beddian birthday for two

did you know that when your age is the same as the year you were born it is called your "beddian birthday"? i didn't until this year. both my dad and my daughter are on their beddian birthday! my dad was born in 1957 and is now 57, and natalie was born in 2007 and is now 7 years old. after my dad told us about the age and year thing, natalie is the one who caught that it was her year too =o] she was so proud! 

my dad had a conference for work here in socal, so he stayed with us instead of at the hotel and we got to celebrate his birthday with him! it was super fun! 

we made him brownies with nuts on his part. 

he brought the kids some cool handouts from the booths and they were thrilled! 

i made fajitas for dinner and we set a special place for him to eat when he finally made it through the traffic. 

we sang to him and he blew out all the candles =o]

then he got to open all his presents that the kids helped to pick out and wrap. they were almost more eager to open them then he was! he kept saying "man alive! this is a lot of presents!". natalie told me later he told her we made him feel like a king with all the festivities, which she was so happy about =o]

but the best part i forgot to take a picture of- games! grandpa jamie loves games as much as kent and caleb so we played games until the kids' bedtime. then after my dad got to talk to my mom on the phone, he, kent and i played a great game of stone age. kent came out on top! so that makes it one win for each of us of the three times we have played just us three =o] we got to have a good chat afterwards and then it was off to bed. 

the next day he got to come back and play outside for a few minutes with the kids before heading home. the kids sure do love their grandpa jamie! i'm so glad he got to come for a visit =o]
